Inside Islas Marías: First-Ever Sportfishing Expedition to a Once-Forbidden Island
For decades, the legendary Islas Marías remained completely off-limits—closed to boats, anglers, and the outside world.
Known globally as a former federal prison complex, these islands became one of the most restricted and mysterious locations in Mexico. As a result, the surrounding waters remained virtually untouched for generations.
🎬 Inside Islas Marías — Video 1 (Documentary Series)
In this documentary-style film, we present Part 1 of a two-part series capturing a historic moment in Mexican sportfishing.
Departing from Cabo San Lucas, we embarked on a 200+ mile offshore expedition to participate in the first-ever legal sportfishing tournament held in these waters.
As part of this milestone event, we became among the first anglers in history to legally fish Islas Marías.
